Jukebox Movie Musical Craze The pop charts, included the title songs from Can't Stop the Music and Fame, released at the tail-end of the 1970s jukebox movie musical craze. The Blues Brothers reached number 18 on the US singles chart with Gimme Some Lovin from the Blues Brothers film soundtrack.
Breaking Glass The film Breaking Glass, starring Hazel O'Connor, had a big impact on the UK charts, with five singles released from the soundtrack album.
Xanadu Another movie, Xanadu, continued with that disco theme for the soundtrack; with the album including no less than six hit singles. The facade of the Art Deco Pan-Pacific Auditorium was used in the film as a stand in for a soon-to-be renovated nightclub. Film sets and photography, utilised special effects in bright neon colours. The dancing muses, appearing alongside Olivia Newton-John, in the opening and finale film sequences, were decked out in the co-ordinated pastel shades of the Eighties. Don Bluth created an animated sequence for the film.
