Outlandos D'Amour The Police recorded their first album Outlandos D'Amour without a record deal. Miles Copeland, the elder brother of their drummer, was able to then get them signed with A&M records in 1978. There were three different album covers and the band's logo was in either green, red or yellow.
Reggatta de Blanc Their 1979 album Reggatta de Blanc contained the Number One singles Message in a Bottle and Walking on the Moon, sold millions, and moved the band towards super-star status.
Zenyatta Mondatta Their album Zenyatta Mondatta produced two hit singles. The band had touring commitments, in 1980, which left them recording the album in a limited amount of time.
Ghost in the Machine The album Ghost in the Machine takes its title from the novelist Arthur Koestler. It contains the hit singles Invisible Sun, Spirits in the Material World and Every Little thing She Does Is Magic.
Synchronicity Their fifth album was released in 1983. It was recorded over a six week period on the island of Montserrat. The group would listen through each take of Synchronicity, which would be edited together into one master backing track, before they recorded overdubs, which were often bounced down, in the studio, to make room for other overdubs on the 24-track recording machine.

The British-American new-wave band the Police enjoyed huge success, including recording a string of hit songs, and scoring five UK Official Singles Chart number ones, starting with Message in a Bottle. Their hit singles are spread across the five studio albums they released between 1978 and 1983.
